2008 Best Places to Live
Mercer consulting has come out with their list of best places to live in the world for 2008. Vancouver tops out the Americas' cities with the number 4 spot. Seattle rounds out the top 50, which is still pretty good. Definitely makes me a little homesick. I think Hide and I would eventually like to make the move back, but the opportunities equal to what we have down here are few and far between. Fingers crossed that a transition to the Richmond dev center is a future possibility.
Free Canada - USA Calls
Well at least for the time being. . .
A friend forwarded me an invite for the site grandcentral.com, which seems to be a recent google acquisition still in beta form. My apartment complex has a security door, and entering phone numbers into the system is restricted to the 425 area code for some reason. That is, it doesn't play nice with my cell phone since my wife and I don't have a land line. This site provides a convenient work around, and a little added bonus.
I'm Initiative
I return from the depths of the blogging abyss to promote the I'm Initiative from Microsoft. So far it seems that this is only being supported in the US, but for all of you Messenger users in the states, please take 10 seconds of your time to make a difference.
A Hand To Remember
Ahhh what fun the game of poker is. . .
I'm sitting on the button, with A2 offsuit. 1 caller UTG and 2 more players fold to me. I'd been playing really tight all night and thought it would be the perfect time to bluff. Raised it 5x the blinds, with the SB quickly calling and BB folding. UTG thinks about it for a second and then calls with about 1/6 of his chips. Flop comes K 10 10 and its checked to me. I bet out another 8x the blinds and the SB calls. I immediately put him on a K as he's a rather aggressive player when he's got the nuts. UTG takes a minute and thinks again before calling. I'm thinking he's got a open ended straight draw and is doing some fishing. Great. Fish some more and I'll make him fold on the next turn when he doesn't catch it.
