Out of Hibernation

dtan 08/18/2006 - 14:34

I'm back! It took a while but I finally got that urge to come back and update the site. Too much has happened over the past 3 months to really mention in one post so I'll just skip to the here and now.

We've moved into our permanent housing. Its taken a while but after a couple moves, we found somewhere (too) close to work and the local sports gym. Furniture has just begun to arrive and before we know it we'll be off the floor entirely. Bed and dining table: 2 down, sofa to go.

One thing we've come to realize is that you really need a vehicle in this city. I'd been told that the Bellevue area bus system was decent, but with 1 bus every hour on weekends, there so much time wasted.

Happy 10,000th!

There's a party on sunday to celebrate a friends 10,000th (birth)day. Hah, what a brilliant reason to celebrate. Turns out that today I am 9374 days old. That means that Feb 2, 2008 is my big day, so mark it on your calendars :P

Saving the best for last

Today was the final day of the season for mt. seymour, one of the locals here in Vancouver. . . and boy what a day! We head out in the morning with a healthy cloudy with sunny breaks forecast in store. Visibility wasn't too bad from the start and the 3cm of fresh provided some freshly groomed runs. It's hard to believe that its mid April and the snow is still falling. More than that, with a 300cm base at the parking lot, you have to question why they would be shutting it down so early.

With a few runs under our belts, it started to lightly snow again as we headed in for lunch. As we watched from the window of the cafeteria, the view became a wall of white. It was dumping! A quick bite to eat and we were back on our way up the lift. Not more than a few meters on the chair and the falling snow started to fade. . . only to revealing a backdrop of blue sky. Within 5 mins we were now sitting in pure sunshine.
