School has finally rolled around with an unusual excitement filling the air. Undoubtedly it is the fact that after 2 more courses my time at UBC will be over. . .
The first week was rather busy, but is nothing compared to what is just beyond the horizon. My only CS course this year, 410 will definately result in me learning a thing or two. We will be using the spring framework (drupal spotting!) for our term project involving some sort of distributed game. Should be good fun, depending of course on just how much freedom we have. NL Holdem pops to mind. . .perhaps the early warning signs of a gambling addiction =p
Part of the Ipod Family (Maybe)
So I wake up to a rather spamlike email entitled, "Apple Student iPod Shuffle Contest Selected Entrant". The email reads:

When a good thing gets better
Congrats to the drupal community! Seems the server move to OSL has finally got the wheels in motion. Drupal.org has had a very noticable improvement in performance!
Good Times
Well half way through writing this entry about our Vegas trip, the 'oh too handy' gmail notification from googletalk prompted me to check my mail. This unwillingly erased all of which I had put on paper.
So here is the short version:
First day was unlucky. Didn't bet and would definately have lost. Plane was late, shuttle was late, just enough time for food and sleep.
Second day was marrrrvellouuuss. Rented a cheap car. Paid more for gas than the car. Stood in 30 degree sun while lightning struck down on the north side of the Grand Canyon - cool. Stood in awe at the sheer size while 1 step left or right would have meant certain death. Managed over 900kms as we arrived back in LV. Walked the strip and lost $50 on roulette.
